11 Jan Fairs and key dates in 2016 for professionals in the olive sector
We start this January by reminding you, thanks to the information provided by the prestigious magazine, Mercacei, about the dates when trade fairs and professional events for the virgin olive oil sector are held.
The first of these will be Winter Fancy Food Show, which will be held between January 17 and 19 in San Francisco and will once again become an exclusive showcase for all types of gourmet and delicatessen foods, such as extra virgin olive oil.
Following that and back in Spain, the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, returns to Madrid between January 20 and January 24. Once again, it will be the global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading fair for Ibero-American inbound and outbound markets.
A day later, Milan will be the venue chosen once again to celebrate Olio Officina Festival, a cultural event created by the writer, oleologist and author of several books dedicated to extra virgin olive oil, Luigi Caricato. Its renewed fifth year will take place between 21 and 23 January at the Palazzo delle Stelline in the Italian city.
Later, the International Gastronomy Summit Madrid Fusión, will also come to the capital. It will be held at the Conference Centre, Campo de las Naciones, between January 25 and 27, with a programme including various presentations, demonstrations, master workshops, tastings and conferences. Agroexpo will take place in Don Benito (Badajoz) between January 27 and 30.
After the organization of important agri-food events such as Prodexpo (from February 8 to 12), the top exhibition at the Russian market, Biofach y Vivaness will be take place. It is the organic sector’s largest global platform and will be held at the Nüremberg exhibition centre from February 10 -13.
Shortly after, from February 16 – 20, the 2016 FIMA Zaragoza Fair will take place. Zaragoza’s International Agricultural Machinery Fair is held every two years. Gulfood runs from February 21 – 25 in Dubai and the IV Olipremium Exhibition is held on February 22 in Madrid.
Events in March include: World Olive Oil Exhibition (2 – 3 in Madrid) and Olio Capitale (5 – 8 in Trieste, Italy); and immediately afterwards, Foodex Japan (8 – 11 in Tokyo, Japan), Gastro Vision (11 – 15 March in Hamburg, Germany); AoveSol (11 – 13 March in Torremolinos, Málaga); and ExpoANTAD and Alimentaria México(16 – 18 March in Guadalajara, Mexico).
For its part, April will also host important national and international events such as the Gourmets Exhibition (April 4 – 7 in Madrid), the largest annual concentration of high-end food products in Europe, including extra virgin olive oil; SOL & Agrifood (April 10 – 13 in Verona, Italy); SIAL Canada(13 – 15 April in Montreal, Canada); Luxe Pack Shanghai (April 13 – 14 in Shanghai, China); Global Oil (April 14 – 16 in Beijing, China); World Food Warsaw (from April 19 – 21) and Ovibeja (April 21 to 25 in Beja, Portugal).
May will also have a strong international flavour with fairs of interest to the sector such as Food & Hospitality Africa (May 3 – 5 in Johannesburg, South Africa); SIAL China (May 5 – 7 in Shanghai, China); CIBUS (May 9 – 12 in Parma, Italy); Luxe Pack Nueva York (May 11 to 12 in New York, United States); Oil China (May 18-19 in Beijing, China); and PLMA (May 24 – 25). The Montoro Olive Oil Fair will take place In Spain and in every even year in May (from May 11 – 14 in Montoro, Córdoba).
The summer season already has events confirmed, such as Summer Fancy Food Show from June 26 – 28 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
Other key fairs in the last months of the year will be the Speciality & Fine Food Fair (September 4 – 6 in London, England); Fine Food Australia (September 12 – 15 in Sydney, Australia); World Food Moscow (September 12 – 15 in Moscow, Russia); Luxe Pack Monaco (21 – 23 September in Monaco); SIAL Paris ( October 16 – 20 in Paris, France); Nordic Organic Food Fair (October 16 – 17 in Malmoe, Sweden); Food & Hotel China(November 7 – 9 in Shanghai, China) and Empack, Packaging Innovations y Logistics (November 23 – 24 in Madrid).
